Gemix is powered by Play ‘N Go and looks more like Candy Crush that a slot game – played on a 7×7 reel set from 50p to £100 per spin on all devices, the aim is to round up precious gemstones for payouts of up to 1,000 times your total stake on each spin. It has a magical feel to it with miners, princesses, and wizards appearing.
Underneath the gems is a pattern of blue squares. As you get wins on those squares, they turn orange. Once the whole pattern is orange, you move to a new level, getting a brand new pattern to fill. 3 patterns later, you’ll move to the next world. This introduces a progressive element to the game, which is helped along by a ‘world bonus’ which is displayed on the screen. You’ll win this when you complete the world.
Visually, it does look more like a mobile game that a slot – symbols on the reels include 8 radiant gemstones in a variety of rainbow colors. The symbols drop from above to populate the game grid with winning formulations constructed when you form a cluster of 5 or more identical gems. The 2 most valuable gems are the heart and star – they pay out a whopping 500 and 1,000 times your stake respectively for 15 or more in a cluster.
Crystal Charge these are a series of bonus features which are activated by collecting 20 or more gems in one spin. Four are available which are randomly awarded in the spinning ball to the right of the grid:
- Nova Blast-One gem explodes, destroying all adjacent symbols.
- Crystal Warp – One random symbol is picked and all matching ones are transformed into other symbols.
- Light Beam – One symbol blasts a ray of light horizontally and vertically, transforming those symbols into matching ones.
- Chain Lightning – A flash of lightning joins two opposing corners, changing all symbols in its path to match those corners.
If you collect 40 or more gems a 3x multiplier is awarded for the current spin.
There are three worlds, which turn in a cyclical nature. In order to progress through each of the worlds, you’ll have to have wins over the three different patterns on the board. Mostly, they turn pretty quickly, every 50 to 100 spins. And in each one, you get different wilds. That’s pretty much the only point of swapping round. That and the change of scenery.
